Do You Have a Plan?
Mar 25th, 2009 by bud

Do you know where you want to go? Is your internet marketing business the vehicle to get you there? Starting a business is a lot like driving a car from one place to another. First you need a car then you need a map of how to get there. If you wanted to drive from Virgina to Washington State what would you need? You would need adequate money for gas, food, lodging and a good reliable car. That is not a lot different than what you need to build an internet marketing business. In both cases after you have gotten the basics you need a plan or a map to get you to the destination.

What do you need to start an internet marketing business or to just sell some stuff on line:

  • You need a computer.
  • You need an internet connection.
  • You need motivation.
  • You need a plan.

It is safe to assume that you have the first two if you are reading this.  The next two depend upon you.  First you must look deep down into your soul and determine if this thing is for you.  There are a lot of sites out there to help you decide.  I would advise you to look for the fee stuff about being an entrepreneur.  Look for the characteristic that define a business owner.  No matter how you slice it if you are going to succeed on line you will be a business owner.

Do you have these qualities:

  • A deep seated need to achieve.
  • Self motivated and a self starter.
  • Are you action oriented?
  • Does achieving a goal motivate you?
  • Can you be persuasive?
  • Are you resourceful?
  • Are you tenacious and persistent.  (My kids call me stubborn).
  • Are you resilient–do you bounce well from setbacks?
  • Are you tolerant of the unknown?  Can you do new things without someone to hold your hand?

Take a careful look at these items before you decide to be an entrepreneur.  These traits plus a computer and an internet connection are your vehicle to internet success.  If you have these basic items then you need a plan.  There are lots of people out there willing to sell you a plan including my self.  However I am not going to give you a link to a plan to buy that will make you an instant millionaire.  There ain’t no magic plan–trust me.  This is like any other business you put in your time, energy and some money to earn the reward.  Think about these things and we will discuss methods to build a plan in another post.

What Is Your Focus–Do You Have One?
Mar 19th, 2009 by bud

My Daughter got out of the Navy after nine years as an electronic technician.  She and her Husband and 3 children are living with us until they can get established.  I have a one year old grandson that I have been observing for the last several month.  He turned one year old this week.  As I watched him learn to walk I could not help but admire his focus on getting the project done.  He crawled up every thing and tackled anyones leg so that he could walk along with them.  The little cutie loved to have someone hold his hand so that he could get his balance and learn to walk.  At the same time he was building the muscles and balance necessary to walk.

About a week or two ago he took a few steps on his own.  Now he is on a dead run all the time.  Now that he has his mobility figured out his focus has shifted.  He is now concentrating on shapes and devices.  I think he is trying to figure out how things work.  But again he has a focus.  He will play with one toy until he learns how to make it work and then goes on to the next.

What is my point.  If all of us “adults” had the focus of this one year old then life would be a lot simpler.  Do you have a target that you are focusing on for your internet marketing business or your life in general.  Or are you like a cork in a pan of water being tossed here and there by the forces of life.  If you are going to succeed you need to get a target clearly in your sights (old reaneck thinks of things down the barrel of a rifle).

Look through the links on this site and I am sure that you can find one to help you focus on your life’s goal.  Do you have the focus of a one year old on your internet marketing business.

“I’m a Newbie and What Do I Do to get Started In Internet Marketing?”
Mar 17th, 2009 by bud

First I think that we all are newbies to internet marketing as each day brings up more new information than any of us can learn.  We need to use what I call the grocery store method.  Take that off the net that you can use and leave the rest there.

Here are a few critical questions that you need to answer to begin your career on the internet.

  • What am I going to sell?–more about selling later.
  • What do I need to know?
  • Who can help me?
  • Will I instantly get rich?
  • Will it cost me a lot of money?
  • Do I really have to tell my mate about this?

I have put together a few free reports that should help with this.  The first is one that I have had on my blog before.  Please excuse the duplication but this is important.  I really don’t care what anyone else says about lists.  They justify a small list by saying it is quality and “laser targeted” to their subscribers.  Just an excuse–It is still true.  He who has the biggest list wins (and makes the most money).  I don’t have a large list and that is really what this blog is all about.

Why Would You Want to be An Internet Marketer?
Mar 14th, 2009 by bud

What are the reasons that would drive you to be an internet marketer? Do you know the real reasons? This article won’t give you the answers but it will help you to find them:

  • Do you need more money? (Don’t we all?)
  • Do you dream of having your own business?
  • Do you know what your BIG DREAM is?

You can get a lot of answers at this site.  Simpleology  .

This is not an affiliate link but takes you directly to Mark Joyners signup web site for a free program that will change your life and I’ll bet that in the next 90 days you will buy some of his stuff.  What he offers for free is world class.

My next question is are you cut out to be an internet marketer?

  • Would you spend 3 hours a day six days a week for the next six months to build a business?  You may not have to do this but would you?
  • Will you spend $200 to $500 getting software, web hosts and domains?  There are ways to do this without spending much money, again the question is would you?
  • Will you do what ever it takes to realize you ultimate lifestyle?

If you can answer yes to all of these questions then you will make it in the business world.  Internet marketing is a business.

What are Some Mistakes for Beginning Marketers to Avoid?
Mar 12th, 2009 by bud

When it comes to making mistakes I have made enough for you and me together.  You don’t need to make the same ones that I made.  When my wife and I got started in internet marketing we were really green and gullible. I had been an avid reader of Robert Allen for a number of years.  His first book “Nothing Down” had made me a lot of money.  To this day I have not made a down payment with my own money to buy any real estate that I have purchased.  His book “Multiple Streams of Income” made a lot of sense and I used it to good advantage.  In fact if I had not followed this line of thinking I would be in a world of hurt today.

Robert Allen than put out a book called “Multiple Streams of Internet Income”  again it was a great book with great advise,  If I would have left things there I would be about $10,000 richer today.  I followed up on a squeeze page about generating lots of money from various sources.  The Company was Prosper Learning a Robert Allen owned company in Provo, Utah.  I thought that since his books were so great his coaching program should make me a millionaire in less than 6 months.  This is also what his sales people told me.

The rest of the story.  I signed up with Prosper Learning to learn Internet Marketing.  The coaching program was made up of a text-notebook and a once a week coaching call.  The people doing the coaching were really sincere but did not know much about the business world.  I think that I knew more about marketing at that point than the coaches.  To be fair my first coach taught me a lot about Ubuntu and some about bloging.  He did not have a clue as to how to help me make it in my chosen niche.  He quitProsper Learning in the middle of the program.  My second coach was a young lady that sold dresses etc on line and on a blog.  She knew a bit about bloging but darn little about internet marketing.  She quit Prosper Learning before my coaching program was done.  The paper work showed that the course was complete but this was not the case.

To end this story.  A year later I was still being charged a recurring fee for a service that I did not sign up for. The gurantee was that they would work with me until I succeeded.  How ever any attempt to get past the hurdles that I had were canned answers that you could find any where on the internet.  I asked for my money back but never recieved a reply.

What is the point of this story.  All beginning marketers are going to be pestered and annoyed about joining a coaching program or a mentoring program.  Many of these are good and they are expensive.  If you can afford it as a beginning internet marketer you might cut six months of the time necessary to make a profit with a good mentor.  Here are some things to consider when getting into one of these programs.

  • Is the guarantee still good at the end of the program if you have not meet the goals that were established between you and your mentor or coach.  Written expected outcomes are an absolute must for this type of a program.  These should be complete with dates and measurable outcomes.
  • Will the program take you step by step from where you are to where you want to be.  Many mentors are like consultants–they give fuzzy answers rather than direct answers to you question or they ignore hard questions completely.  That has been my experience even from the top of the line coaching programs.
  • Check their history with the Better Business Bureau in the city of their home office.
  • Check to see if they are a registered business in the state from which they conduct business.
  • Check them out on RipOff Report.  You can google them.
  • Make sure that any recurring payment program is up front and that you know what it is.  Many of these recurring payment programs are extreemly hard to escape from.

I learned these lessons by the school of hard knock or was that hard earned dollars.
