Does Twitter Discriminate?
January 11th, 2010 by bud

In the last few weeks I have had a number of issues with Twitter.  I realize that a lot of it is my own fault, however when twitter suspended my account without warning and will not reply as to why it was suspended it tweeked my bull shit meter to full.

This is a slanderous response to put out on the web.  Am I a terrorist, a spammer or just someone that managed to hit a sore spot with twitter or  some of the media powers.  I took a shot at the Trump Network as it is obvious that a lot of people are going to loose money with this scam.  I also took issue with Sudden Link Communications for not fulfilling their implied promise of band width for the subscribers in the North West.

My real issues is not that they canceled my account.  I only want to be treated like everyone else.  In the last month I have done a lot of research on twitter and have not found one account that has not violated at least one of twitters rules.  If one account is canceled for a violation then all should be canceled.  If you agree or disagree please leave a comment on this blog.

It is not a question if Twitter Corporate discriminates but a question of who they discriminate against.  This article establishes the pattern http://twitterdiscrimination.com/ .  I know from personal experience that twitter will use their power for their or their venture partners benefit.  I wrote two blog posts that criticized the Trump Network and Sudden Link communications.  http://www.bcredneckmarket.com/?p=84 and http://www.bcredneckmarket.com/?p=94.  My mistake was to post these links on twitter.

I was a bit aggressive in my marketing posting but no more so than such ones as the Chris Voss Show and several large corporate auto accounts.  I got curious about twitters funding and did a little research.  http://sanjose.bizjournals.com/sanfrancisco/stories/2008/11/17/story6.html?q=Twitter%20corporate%20funding This article points out a critical flaw in twitter.  The business model does not have a clearly defined method of revenue generation.  Advertising can be sold on twitter, this is a given but will the twitter users remain loyal if this happens.

Research indicates that unless Twitter get an influx of capital or finds a way to monetize their business, they will be bankrupt by June of 2010.   This is my opinion and please take it as such.  Do your own research.

My second biggest problem with twitter is that they will not answer questions about the suspension. I have sent this request several times and get the answer that no request has been submitted.

It is really hard to know what you did wrong if they will not respond.  In order to correct incorrect behavior one must know what was done wrong.

If any one else is having these kinds of problems please post a comment.  I am trying to decide if legal action is warranted.

I thought this was going to be another long boring blog post, but I was pleasantly suprised. I will be posting a backlink on my blog, as I am quite sure my readers will find this more than interesting.

Hello. This is kind of an “unconventional” question , but have other visitors asked you how get the menu bar to look like you’ve got it? I also have a blog and am really looking to alter around the theme, however am scared to death to mess with it for fear of the search engines punishing me. I am very new to all of this …so i am just not positive exactly how to try to to it all yet. I’ll just keep working on it one day at a time Thanks for any help you can offer here

This menu bar came with the word press theme. Look for a theme that looks like you would like and preview it. You should be able to see how the menu works in the preview. There are a lot of good free ebooks on the net about wordpress. Get a few and see what you can do. Set up a couple of blogs and see what they look like. You can’t hurt anything and can learn a lot by just playing around. I am not an authority on blogs. If you set up a couple of different blogs to try them out try to get them on different host so that if you end up liking them you can share links and generate more traffic. Also if you make a mistake you can delete one and be no worse off. In changing themes on wordpress the only thing I have learned is to remove a plugins before you change themes and then add them back in. This will prevent the new theme from locking up. Have had that happen a few times.

I appreciate your opinion however if twitter is going to stay in business they are going to need income. They have not cleared that hurdle yet. Advertising will be come a part of twitter, both in posts and in posted ads on the sites. Use a client to view twitter and the spam is no longer a problem as you don’t need to click their links and the posts just scroll down your screen. I believe you have a valid point but economics won’t allow it to happen. Facebook had the same problem in the beginning and over came the problem without offending advertisers or the users. Facebook has one of the most effective targeted advertising program ever developed.

Thanks,
Bud

P.S. You did not address the discrimination as related to many businesses, those that contribute to twitter and the small guy that can/t. I believe that is really the issue.
